Staffing Solutions Organization, LLC, Supports Tomorrow’s Workforce as Portfolio Sponsor for the 2019 Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York Stock Market Challenge
Albany, NY, April 22, 2019/ -- On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, Staffing Solutions Organization (SSO), LLC was a portfolio sponsor for the 2019 Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge, which took place at The State University of New York at Albany SEFCU arena.
The Stock Market Challenge gave these students a chance to live out 60 days in the life of a stock trader. There were 75 teams who participated from 20 schools throughout the Capital Region, New York area. This included 300 + students from 19 high schools, which resulted in a 200 percent growth rate over 2018! Every team began the challenge with $500,000 in the bank, every “trading day” was 60 seconds long, and the teams made trading decisions together. Two sessions were made available for students to convene with their teachers and chaperones which included time to strategize for the second session and to also talk about what happened.
Galway High School, the winning team of the competition, was awarded $250 per team member along with an all-expenses-paid day trip to tour the NYS Stock Exchange, sponsored by SEFCU. SSO is proud to have been involved in sponsoring this innovative event that gives high school students a crash course in the world of investing, buying, and selling stock.
